Description:
"Planet Earth" is a documentary series from BBC Worldwide. It presents the terrestrial animal world in a comprehensive and fascinating way. Produced by Alastair Fothergill, the series was first broadcast in 2006. With the help of forty camera crews and the latest technology, Alastair Fothergill attempted to capture the diversity and beauty of our Earth's natural world. To do this, he filmed in 200 remarkable places around the world over a period of 5 years. Thus pictures of the Piranhas in the Amazon over glaciers up to the highest waterfalls of the world were shown. The unprecedented spectacular images are characterized by high expenditure, the latest technology and high use of specialized camera teams. For example, the attack technique and power of a great white shark during an attack on a seal could be recorded in extreme slow motion. These remarkable images are commented on by David Attenborough. In total, Planet Earth won four Primetime Emmy Awards and was nominated for four BAFTA TV Awards.
In 2007, the film "Our Earth" was released with unreleased images from the series and in 2016 followed the sequel of Planet Earth, with a total of six parts.
